The philosophy of our Safety and Security hinges on the true meaning of a “quality management system” that, by definition, documents processes and must be self-improving. Accomplishing this requires a complex understanding of an alphabet soup of acronyms and regulations, rules and code interpretations. The end result is a process and documentation system designed to constantly improve safety aboard.

We accomplish this with the following:

  • Establishing training and supporting the crew with the procedures and supporting documentation with a SMS (“Safety Management System”)
  • Establish or review the PMS (“Planned Maintenance System”) that tracks regular maintenance and break-downs and repairs, along with regular safety checks.
  • Review these systems regularly with a minimum of internal auditing (or external auditing depending on the vessel size and registration.
  • Planning and implementing regularly practiced safety drills for the crew.
  • In the event of a vessel emergency plans and procedures are set in place to provide shoreside assistance. Our entire system is regularly reviewed in order to continually improve the system and its processes.

Improvement comes as the safety system and safety culture aboard a yacht matures. It’s best when this happens organically by using the system. Internal and external auditing that monitor progress are key to the outcome.
