FAQs
A yacht is compliant when it adheres to rules and regulations specified by the country under which a vessel is registered or licensed, also known as its “flag state”. Depending on the yacht’s size and registration status, further regulations must be considered (e.g., classification society, laws of the country the vessel cruises in, such as “port state,” etc.). As a management company, we are highly focused on safety and compliance in the ever-changing regulatory world and support the Captain and crew with this priority.
Depending on the severity of non-compliance, various consequences may arise. These range from the vessel having to rectify the non-conformity within a given time frame to the vessel being detained until the issue is rectified.
As the management company, we provide the framework for compliance through a Safety Management System. We then assist with making it vessel-specific, monitoring the system, and assisting with flag and class certification and surveys, among many other things, to ensure safety and compliance.
We focus on the yacht’s operational safety and compliance with the law. Our team provides support with registration and flagging, safety regulations, crew certifications, environmental regulations, insurance requirements, health and medical standards, immigration issues, and more. It’s a complex job, but we do it every day with years of helpful advice and positive outcomes.
